With just over a week to go until the ‘Invisible Dead’ project conference (6th-8th June 2014) things are very busy for the project team! However, we thought we should find time to post a reminder about the two exciting public lectures which are also going to be taking place as part of the academic conference.
The first, on the Friday 6th June, will be delivered by Professor Peter Pfälzner from the University of Tübingen and he will be talking about some of the amazing finds from the royal tombs at Qatna, Syria. This keynote lecture will be followed up by a wine reception at the Oriental Museum in Durham and will be a wonderful opportunity to see some of the exhibitions and to chat to Peter in more detail about his work.
Saturday evening (7th June) promises to be just as exciting, with Professor Mike Parker Pearson from University College London delivering a keynote lecture entitled, “Dead and (un)buried – problems and perspectives in funerary archaeology”.
Both these events are being held at the Business School (DH1 3LB) in Durham. For more information check out the Durham University archaeology events page (https://www.dur.ac.uk/archaeology/events/) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
